Australia Team
Rationale for study group:
The Australian team of the HELO (HEalthy LOngevity) project is dedicated to gathering robust local data to understand and promote healthy longevity, with a strong emphasis on living well and “adding life to years” for all Australians.
As part of the international HELO consortium led by NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the Australian research team will conduct nation-wide surveys and focus groups targeting public awareness, knowledge, and motivations for healthy living.
Data collection efforts will focus on three key areas:
- Public Perceptions: Surveys and focus groups will capture what Australians know and believe about healthy longevity and the factors they consider most important for ageing well.
- Cardiac Rehabilitation Experiences: The project will gather and analyse patient experiences and preferences regarding different components of cardiac rehabilitation programs with a focus on secondary prevention
- Benchmarking and Outcomes: Using Models of Care and registry data, the research will examine current secondary prevention program structures, participation patterns, and health outcomes, benchmarking these results against global insights from the HELO consortium.
By combining quantitative and qualitative data, this approach will provide a comprehensive picture of how Australians prepare for and engage in healthy longevity practices.
This Australian data collection is crucial for developing scalable, evidence-based strategies to improve healthy ageing outcomes nationwide, while contributing meaningful insights to the global HELO network.
