The Thailand Team

Rationale for Study Group

With advancements in healthcare, people worldwide are living longer, and Thailand has become a complete aged society. This shift presents both opportunities and challenges, as longer life expectancy brings implications for healthcare, quality of life, and social adaptation. Furthermore, the use of hormone therapies and other medical interventions among transgender individuals raises new considerations for long-term health outcomes. Similarly, the expatriate population in Thailand, who face unique physical and psychological adjustments, may also experience specific health impacts over time.
The study focuses on three specific groups within Thailand: the general Thai population, transgender individuals, and expatriates. Through surveys across various regions, the Thai HELO project seeks to assess awareness of healthy longevity, explore the current well-being of these populations, and compare findings across Thailand’s regions. Additionally, the study aims to explore potentially overlapping perceptions and beliefs related to integrative health approaches, such as the use of supplements, probiotics, prebiotics, microbiome health, traditional medicine, and herbs.
